Ian Hume
Ian Hume and his accomplishments are not easily forgotten.
For over 70 years, he dedicated his life to amateur sports
as an athlete, administrator, official and coach. In 1981,
in tribute to his achievements and exemplary service to his
country, he was awarded the Order of Canada, the highest distinction
that Canada can bestow on its citizens. Looking back on his
career, it is clearly apparent how the events of his life
qualified him for this public recognition.
Ian Hume passed away on March 28, 2006, at the age of 91. (See “News” on this web site)

Isobel Cunningham
Isobel was born Isobel Bleasdell, in Montreal on February
17, 1914.
Isobel’s career as a sprinter began in the 1930s. In
1937, she became co-holder of the world record for the Indoor
50 Yard dash, at 6.0 seconds. In the same year, she was declared
the outstanding athlete of the year in Quebec. In 1938, she
competed in the British Empire Games in Sydney, Australia.
She was preparing for the Olympics in 1940 when those Games
were cancelled because of World War II.
